Executive Function Coaching FAQ

What is executive function coaching? Executive function coaching is a specialized form of college coaching designed to help students improve their organizational, planning, time management skills, and self-regulation abilities. It focuses on assisting individuals in setting goals, planning steps, prioritizing tasks, and managing their time effectively.


How can executive function coaching help me in college? College executive function coaching can aid you in managing your workload more effectively, improving your study habits, enhancing your time management skills, and developing strategies to overcome procrastination and academic challenges. It also fosters better communication skills and empowers you to advocate for yourself.


Who can benefit from executive function coaching? Any college student struggling with organization, time management, planning, prioritization, task initiation, or follow-through can benefit from executive function coaching. This coaching is particularly helpful for students with ADHD, learning disabilities, or other conditions that impact executive functioning.


What can I expect from a coaching session? Coaching sessions are typically personalized and goal-oriented. I will work with you to identify specific challenges you face, set achievable goals, and develop strategies to overcome those challenges. Sessions may include discussions, goal-setting exercises, reviewing emails, navigating the school’s learning management system (Canvas, Moodle, D2L, Blackboard), and reflecting on progress.


How often do I need to meet with a coach? The frequency of coaching sessions can vary based on individual needs and goals. Initially, we will meet weekly for 45 minutes to an hour or twice a week for 30 minutes. As you progress and develop your skills, sessions may become less frequent (e.g., bi-weekly or monthly).
